My Auto-Biography

Hi! My name is Roger C. Blair and I am a standup comic that was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico way back when. My lovely wife Theresa and I have been married a long, long, time and has produced our four kids Darrell, Yvette, Sean and DeVonne.

I retired as the Chief Electrical Inspector for the City of Albuquerque after 27 years. However, during this time I was Developing my stage legs with my Rock and Roll Band, The Tropics. I also performed in Spanish Theatre with La Compañía de Theatro de Albuquerque with my favorite production being Nuevo Mexico Si!

After many years of  singing and acting, stand-up comedy was the next natural direction for me. I was fortunate to meet Ronn Perea, the producer of the Rt. 66 Comedy Club, Road Company. Where, I completed his comedy college. Years later I have since performed stand-up in Night Clubs, Theaters, Hotels, Colleges, Military Bases and, yes even Senior Citizen Retirement Homes. All of these venues have been throughout the States of New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, and Florida. Because I’m a clean comic, I have also performed on Cruise Ships. And how can we forget the COMEDY STORE and the IMPROV COMEDY CLUB in HOLLYWOOD, California. In the last few years I have been performing on television shows such as Channel 27’s (Cream Comedy, Music New Mexico Style, and the Miguelito Romero Show) my most recent events have been performing Stand-up Comedy on the Duke City Comedy League on KASY MY50, broadcast throughout New Mexico, Eastern Arizona, and Southern Colorado.

I have also had the privilege of opening up for Joan Rivers at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada in April 2010.

My nickname is the SOUTHWEST BORSCHT BELT COMIC because I perform a “Take my wife Por Favor” kind of jokes. Why? Because my jokes focus on the southwest home front by playing off the lighter side of growing up as a modern Anglo/Hispanic American in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

To me, my biggest thrill is making people laugh. They say ”that laughter is the best medicine.”  And I believe it!  I am very proud of the recent  honor of being awarded the New Mexico Hispano Entertainer's Association People's Choice Award for Comedian of the Year.  So, I look forward to continuing to make people laugh for many years to come.
